Benefits of Stretching
Stretching will help to increase your flexibility in your body which will make sure that you do not pull any muscles. It increases your range of motion so that you can do more movements with less energy and less tightness. Stretching also increases your body’s blood flow which can ultimately help you recover faster as well as give you more energy.
How to Stretch
Be sure to warm up and before you stretch to make stretching more effective and beneficial for you. Ride a stationary bike or walk on a treadmill before you stretch for 5-10 minutes to ensure that you do not pull a muscle. Be sure to stretch both sides of your body and do not bounce but make it a smooth transition. Stretch 7 days a week throughout the day for maximum benefit.
Yoga is one of the best ways to build total body balance and also help center yourself. It is great for increasing flexibility and core strength. Also in a class setting it can be really helpful to because it builds connection and a sense of belonging to a group. Yoga is a great practice to add to your workout regimen of weight training and cardio work to balance yourself out and make sure that you are getting your full spectrum of health and fitness. Yoga has it’s own special tribe and you may find that it helps you deal with stress better as well. Find a local gym or health club near you that offers yoga watch some of the results that you will get. Participate 2-3 times per week to start and build up from there.
