The reason why I got involved in personal training and why The Gym at City Creek has interested me so much is because of what the people who are going to be involved in it are like. The core values and the offers that are going to be made available are going to be amazing. There will be all types of amenities, equipment, personal training, and most important of all an INCREDIBLE gym culture. This is going to be one of the best fitness facilities in the country and definitely will be a place to recognize in the state of Utah and especially in the city of Salt lake. This will be a facility that we will put our heart and soul into offering the best customer service and experience around. This is going to be a place where the customer is always right and we will go above and beyond to accomplish this goal of total customer satisfaction. This is truly going to be a special time for Salt Lake City, Utah and I am very excited to see how many people’s lives we will be able to change when we open. I am looking to help change the entire state of Utah and it’s view of personal training and the gym experience. The ways that I am looking to personally add value to this facility will be hiring the best and most personable personal trainers that truly care about our clients. By having the best management team available and the best resources to be able to please all of our clients.
I truly believe there is no better team to accomplish this feat of challenging the status quo of other gyms in the area. We will set the new standard of how people and gym members will get treated and this will be the only way gyms will be able to survive. The time has come where the customers and clients should get treated like people and not just like numbers. I am so passionate about making this the best experience possible and putting smiles on our members faces that I can hardly stop thinking about it.

Trying to reach your fitness goals and join a gym can be a lot of times a very intimidating or confusing time because most of the time gyms are either trying to hard sell you (because they do not care about you) or there is not enough help available to help you feel comfortable. The number one concern that most people have when they first come into a gym is that they do not know what to do and they feel self conscious. That will not happen here because there will be fitness professionals around to help guide you and understand why and what you should do. And not only that they will do it with a smile on their face and care in their heart. You do not have to worry about feeling like you have to do this on your own. I cannot stress this enough this will be a fitness culture like none you have ever seen we are not interested in building a gym culture that only cares about what people look like or only having “muscle heads” around but one where you feel that you can be yourself and challenge yourself and make fitness a lifestyle choice.
That is what I am trying to sell to everyone every single day of my life is that fitness can be a fun lifestyle and it is an attainable goal to reach. Fitness should be something that you feel you can follow and achieve without having to think of it as some kind of restriction or punishment or 6 week fad. This is what we are going to teach you is how to make it something that you can follow and keep it simple. You will definitely need to come check us out when we have our grand opening and see for yourself…we will be different, I PROMISE.

If you have any plans on making fitness a part of your lifestyle then you will need to spend some serious time thinking about what is your gameplan for how to keep yourself motivated. Some things that have helped me in the past to stay motivated in the past are things such as knowing what reward I will get for achieving it, why is it important to me, for example I want to stay fit so that it can help me have energy at work to perform better, or to feel confident in how I look and feel in the clothes that I want to be in. You need to be able to figure out what is your emotional hot buttons for wanting to achieve fitness. By just only saying you want to lose 30 pounds because your friend or family member or society says you should is just not enough. You have to know the inner reason why, in order for you to be successful in this marathon. Most people think of getting in shape as a destination….WRONG!!! It is not a destination it is a journey and it is something that you have to constantly work on because it trickles into other parts of your life.
Fitness can help you in so many areas
I can go on and on with all of the benefits but those are a few that maybe will get your mind to start thinking about the “WHY” you want to be in shape. Some more recommendations that I have for you is to work on yourself as far as a person as well. If this is going to truly be a lifestyle then you must self educate yourself on other things that you enjoy or things you would like to become better in. It does not matter if it is to become a better gardener or if you want to learn a new language. The point is there has to be multiple ways to keep yourself motivated and engaged on bettering yourself and fitness is a great way to give you the energy that you need to do that. Many principles that you will learn by learning other crafts and bettering yourself will have a direct impact on what you can use in your fitness journey.

I recently had a conversation with a client that had a concern for the nutrition aspect of their fitness…just like everyone :) but the concern was definitely a valid concern which I can understand. The question was how do I follow a healthy diet without getting bored? The client wanted to know how to avoid this because this was something that has been a challenge for him in the past. It got me thinking and my answer to it was to do a few things that would be considered helpful for him and that is
The point that I was making was that most of the time people fail to keep a nutrition plan (gosh I hate the word diet) because they are not looking for ways to eat the same way that they are eating but just substituting the bad or fattier foods with better choices. I recommend that you do a food log for a week or two and eat regularly so that does mean have that Pepsi if you normally do or that hamburger and fries. After you do that food log then I challenge you to either ask a personal trainer, nutritionist, or even yourself and find ways to mimmick the things that you already enjoy and just substitute them with a healthier choice. For example if you are usually eating hamburgers out at restaurants consider making your own hamburgers at home so you can control what you are eating. Also get the leaner ground beef so there is not as much fat content and put it on a whole wheat bun. There is a start of eating healthier and being able to still feel like you are eating regularly and NOT on a diet.
Eating healthy is not as hard or expensive as you think give yourself a chance and educate yourself or get someone to help educate you and make the decision to do it. I PROMISE it gets easier over time, it is all about the knowledge.
