Benefits of Bosu Ball Training
Bosu ball training can be a great way to switch up your workouts and add variety when you get bored in a routine.
Bosu ball training will help to increase balance, muscle strength, muscle coordination, body/muscular balance, and many other muscular and aerobic benefits as well.
Exercises and When to Use the Bosu Ball
If you are someone who has been working out for six weeks or more and have found yourself at a plateau or just plain bored with your exercise routine then I challenge you to do a workout circuit or program based around bosu ball training.
Use your imagination when it comes to exercises and how they can best be applied to your day to day activities. My philosophy is to choose exercises that are the most functional and can help you stay healthy and fit in real life.
Some examples of exercises that you can perform on the bosu ball are
- Squat
- Lunge
- Push up
- Crunch
- One arm push up
- Standing Back Row
- Ab crunch
- Plank
- Dumbbell Bench Press
Sets and Reps with Bosu Ball
You should perform the sets and reps just like you would on any other exercise and workout program. The quality of the reps are much more important than the quantity of reps.
Each rep that you perform I want you to make sure that you are feeling it in the muscle that you are trying to workout. An example would be if you are doing a bosu ball push up then I want you to feel it in your chest and triceps.
On each rep I want you to pay close attention to how much you are controlling the movement pattern. The more you are in control of the movement, the more beneficial the exercise will be for you.
How will the Bosu ball help you lose weight and build muscle?
The main reason the bosu ball will help you to lose weight and build muscle is because it is such different workout. It is more dynamic and forces you to pay attention to what you are doing and the muscles that are involved in the movement.
The deciding factor on how this benefits you is by using this exercise tool it will “shock” your body to change helping you avoid plateaus. Plateaus are what cause you to workout hard and not see any results. So be sure to use this tool to your advantage.
Sample Bosu Ball Workout

Lunge onto Bosu Ball 3 x 10 each leg
Side Lunge onto Bosu Ball 3 x 10 each leg
Bosu Ball Burpee 3 x 10
