My thoughts on fasting I think are unique and some people may disagree with my point of view but I am still going to share it. Fasting is a touchy subject because when you want to lose weight and get lean there are a lot of programs out there that promote fasting to get you results.
My problem with fasting in my opinion especially if it is done over a long period of time is, it can kill your metabolism causing you to be more bloated and actually see worse results over time.
Anytime where you are putting your body in a state of starvation or limited calories your body is going to eat away your muscle and your muscle is your metabolism. Our bodies were not designed to starve ourselves and not get any nutrients. Starvation is a horrible solution.
I want you to look at eating the same way you would fueling your car. You would not get very far if you never put gas in your car. Also the better the gas quality you put in your car the better it performs. Take that into consideration when you are thinking of eating low quality foods or even worse no food at all.
You DON’T have to starve yourself to get the body that you want. I promise that you can get results if you trust me and put your energy into educating yourself on what are good foods and how to pair them together to make them work for YOU.
Your body image and emotions can play a huge role in how you treat yourself. Sometimes if you are not happy with how you look your emotions will get the best of you and you will become desperate to make a change in your body. At this emotionally vulnerable state (which we have all been in, including me) we make rash decisions on what we will eat or what pill we will take.
The solution is to first take a step back and analyze our eating habits and behaviors and figure out what is causing us to feel insecure or unhappy about ourselves and then start working on fixing that first or at least understanding it.
Once you calm yourself down and slow the negative self talk, you will be able to make much more educated and healthier choices that you can stick with for the long term. Do not let the pictures in magazines, tv, or your friends and family to negatively affect you and your mood. You control your mind and if they are not serving you get them out of your life.
Besides, the people that you see that are so called “perfect” are in my experience some of the most unhappiest and insecure people in the world. Work on yourself diligently everyday and not only on your body but also on your mind and soul.
This post was motivated by a question that I got from a reader who asked anonymously. If you have questions and are embarrassed about them ask me anonymously and I will do a blog post on it. I GUARANTEE you are not the only one with that question. :)
